I swear by Myoovi when I have my period and it hurts. I didn't have it with me in the studio today (obviously, I was very grumpy) - but it went straight on when I got home. It's a TENS machine specifically designed for painful periods. Making a ceramic French butter dish on the pottery wheel
Просмотров 7 тыс.Месяц назад
A vlog of me making a ceramic butter dish from start to finish - can I work it out?? Do I know what I'm talking about? Will the pieces make it, and should I take one home? Legally, I can't call this a butterbell ok, it's a french butter dish. ✨ Socials: Instagram: @mae.ceramics www.instagram/mae.ceramics Facebook: Mae Ceramics mae.ceramics Website www.maeceramics.com Sometimes the ...

Thank you so much! You look fabulous, btw!
I love it learning that you are from New Zealand, and your videos have been inspiring. I truly enjoy the storytelling.
What kind of bats do you use? I see you don’t have bat pins so I am intrigued because my machine also doesn’t!
very nice
“Potters be slammin’!” 😂 I want the tshirt. 11:04
Big tip: You can scrape the glaze off with a knife back into the bucket and recycle it that way. Works amazing and safes a lot of time as well as make the lines sharper :)
THAT green is EVERYTHING! Exactly what I was trying to mix in underglaze for painted foliage (mostly ferns)
Nose ring, urrrghh
Cope
Good thing she ain’t wearing it for you bud 💀
Always love your tips & videos! ❤
Genius tip!!!
Excellent tip, thanks!
thank you for this vid. you have a gift!
<3
totally in love with you!!!
Was that your own glaze recipe for the green?
That green glaze looks like it matches your hat. I’ve been trying to find a bright pink, myself. The latest one looks like Barbie pink on the label, but came out kind of coral over multiple pieces.
How many L does your kiln have?
Would love to know more about how you handle the everyday business side of pottery! And also how you overcame the burnout phase and what you do differently now to avoid it happening again? Thank you for your videos! ❤
I just came upon your channel today, and I'm feeling inspired by your story. I have long wanted to learn ceramics, but I live in a village in rural italy where opportunities are quite rare. My 8 year old daughter is exactly the way you describe yourself...always making something in some medium or other! So I am going to buy your book and see whether we can find some supplies, and have a go. I just really want to be able to make nice things for my own home, especially mugs, which are sadly lacking in Italy. Thanks :)
Picked up some pre-made plaster bats today from my local in Seattle. Was ready to cast them myself, but the material cost was not far off and not having to wait for them to dry fully was a bonus. Now drying out my first batch of reclaim, and excited to see how it goes! Spoiler: watching doesn't make the clay dry faster!
My plan is to have another job that will be my source of income and also make a little bit of money from my pottery
Watching your video while drinking tea from your mug 👀
Lovely to hear ❤ so many crossovers I’m currently with Otago at Ara, lovely Cecilia (my neighbour) and inf def my friends. An Ōtautahi girl too. Thanks for sharing x
Thanks for telling your story! I’m glad you found your way back to clay 🫶🏻
its the way i do it lol. the best part i like about reclaiming is that its free clay. years ago i would of thought it out. i know not good. i learned that my profits are in reclaim. thanks for sharing.
Don't ask what Whanganui Potter Studio charge for a yearly fee
So glad you are back to being a full time potter again. I have been and then not and now back to it... I still suck at the business side of being a potter (I have another business I have been running for 20 years), but it's worth it to be able to spend so much time with clay.
It’s a pretty hard balance isn’t it! I feel like I’m constantly hustling to make sure I make enough pots to make enough money 😂
❤ your story!
Thank you!
Thanks for posting this.
You’re welcome! A bit of a different style of video - glad you enjoyed!
I already did all those things....it is much better...my professor was not impressed...LOL...but I have been doing it this way from almost the beginning of my working on the wheel.....glad you figured this out too...pain will make us find a way to be out of it......
by the way I am in my golden years ...LOL.....
first! 🫶🏻
🥇!
beautiful! do you have issues with the coffee pouring through too fast? Seems like a large drain hole but I cant wait to try this design
Those are so nice I’d end up never using them like my grandma’s fine China haha.
I really like the way these plates look! I'm going to start throwing plates soon and I was wondering, with this style and especially for the hospitality industry, have you ever been told that they are hard to pick up from a flat surface? This seems to be a downside of this style of plate. Keen to hear your thoughts :)
Are they microwave safe? Nicely done.
So peaceful. Thank you. They look great.
Your work is lovely!
Brilliant, all of this. Thank you.
Cool vid (Every cup of tea I drink was been reheated in the microwave AT LEAST once 😄)
Lovely demonstration; curious about your stamp that flew by so quickly… did you make it, and if yes, how, what material did you use?
If you sink a piece of fine chicken wire into the slab it will not crack apart. I made some 20 years ago and they are still in great shape.
What type of clay do you use? What brand/type? Currently struggling with my clay consistency
Did you dry the two parts together or did you have to separate them to get them bone dry without cracking? Thanks 🙏
I dried them together - there was enough space for them to shrink together, but the piece that didn’t fit in the end warped a little out of shape :(
I’ve always done it this way because I thought it was strange to dry then wet it again 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Then when it’s mixed and wet I make colored clay with some of it while it’s really soft and mixable. 😎
Thanks for showing the good, the bad and the ugly! I'm glad for you that it's mostly good. But people need to know that life is not all sunshine and lollipops. We all have our struggles! Hope you're feeling better!
Love your set up with a nice big window and a view
Loved your video! But legit the struggle is REAL 😩 I was in the studio the other week on my period and I felt like I was gonna pass out from wedging my clay Keep it up I love your vibe!
Fuck aesthetics, show the real studio. Clay prices will rise so you've saved money. Good shit talking about periods. What a solid ep!
I love it
